PETITION TO MY U.S. SENATORS: OPPOSE THE $4,700 GUN TAX ATTACK!
As one of your constituents – and a law-abiding American gun owner – I urge you to oppose Senator Chris Murphy’s outrageous proposal to raise the federal tax on suppressors and other NFA items from $200 to $4,709.
This proposal is nothing short of a direct attack on the Second Amendment and an unconstitutional effort to price working-class Americans out of their gun rights.
Suppressors and short-barreled rifles are already heavily regulated and require background checks, registration, and federal approval. Senator Murphy’s amendment would not make anyone safer, it would simply punish law-abiding citizens with a massive tax bill for exercising their rights.
In fact, you should be working to repeal the NFA in its entirety.
Raising the tax to $4,700 is a deliberate move to destroy access to these tools and to lay the groundwork for future taxes on other firearms.
This isn’t “gun safety.” This is government overreach and economic attack against gun owners.
I respectfully urge you to:
Vote NO on any amendment or bill that includes this tax increase;
Stand firm against this backdoor gun ban;
And publicly defend the rights of law-abiding gun owners in your state.
