AFA’s federal legislative team in Washington, DC, is pleased to report that Congressman Eric Burlison of Missouri has just introduced the REPEAL THE NFA ACT (H.R. 450)!
Joining Rep. Burlison in cosponsoring H.R. 450 are Congressmen Matt Gaetz (FL), Andy Biggs (AZ), Mary Miller (IL), Andy Ogles (TN) and Paul Gosar (AZ).
The National Firearms Act (NFA) — passed by Congress in 1934 — was the first major federal gun control scheme designed to tell the American people what type of guns they could and couldn’t have.
The ATF’s own website says: “As the legislative history of the law discloses, its underlying purpose was to curtail, if not prohibit, transactions in NFA firearms.”
Rep. Burlison’s bill would REPEAL the NFA!
90 years after the passage of the NFA, gun owners are still dealing with the consequences, forced to beg the ATF for $200 tax stamps, while sifting through government paperwork and lengthy waiting periods.
All this to exercise our Second Amendment rights?!?
Physical firearm regulations like 16-inch barrels on rifles and 18-inch barrels on shotguns are also a result of the NFA.
Over the years, the NFA has become the number one way for the federal government to target law-abiding gun owners, as the ATF can add accessories like pistol braces to the NFA without needing a vote in Congress!
The NFA was unconstitutional in 1934. And it’s unconstitutional today.
It’s time for it to be REPEALED!
By introducing H.R. 450, Congressman Burlison is leading the charge in Congress to repeal this onerous, unconstitutional father of federal gun control laws once and for all.
